Organic vs. Non-Organic Ingredients
Does using organic and wildly grown ingredients compared to conventional ingredients really make a difference to our skin’s health?
In short, yes!
As you know, we are big on using only natural ingredients. Why, you ask? Because natural ingredients speak to the skin in their own language. They are full of healing nutrients that work in synergy with our skin, meaning they share the same natural regenerative abilities as the oils and nutrients in our body. This biological match allows the ingredients to work with our skin, not against it.
Like all parts of our body, the skin is made up of cells that need nutrients and oxygen to survive. So, what we put on our skin needs to be safe and provide nutritious value.
How these nutrients are grown will ultimately affect how well they work with our skin. Organic plants carry the highest number of active enzymes, minerals, vitamins and nutrients. This superior quality produces a much higher performance and result than plants grown inorganically.
Conventional, pesticide-treated plants have a weaker immune system, as chemical-ridden soil contains a reduced concentration of essential plant nutrients. These plants are grown in poor soil and treated with toxins, producing poorer, less effective results for our skin.
Let’s take our superstar, antioxidant-rich Kakadu plum as an example.
Our Kakadu plum is grown remotely in Western Australia. For centuries, it has been isolated and undisturbed by civilisation and as a result has developed superior adaptation skills; it produces exceptionally high levels of antioxidants that ward off free radicals and protect the plant from the harsh Aussie sun. This has enabled the Kakadu plum to thrive under difficult conditions, which other plants—tampered with by pesticides and other toxins—are not able to do.
If this same plant was grown using traditional farming methods with herbicides and pesticides, would it have the same levels of antioxidants? Well, the Organic Buyers Group of Australia have tried, and the answer is a hard no.
Kakadu plum has vital phytonutrients (the antioxidants found in plants) that make the plant stronger. They do the same for the plant as they do for us, so if the plant is overprotected from bugs and diseases using chemical-laden pesticides, it no longer relies on these vital phytonutrients to survive.
This is why we source our Kakadu plum from Western Australia, grown in harsh climate conditions, nutrient-rich soil and grown without chemical interaction or control methods – to ensure that our products use the highest quality ingredients for your skin’s health.
